Oh, Sarah . . . it's okay that your favorite show is dumb!

Seriously, though, every time they have an ep that isn't Snow/Charming focused, it's all just blah blah yada yada to me. I definitely feel the Charming love! In my head, I keep casting Josh Dallas in other shows. Like, he's another Gilbert uncle on TVD, and he and Alaric can pal around. Or he has an accent, and is Emanda's Swedish revenge guru now that her Japanese revenge sensei has left. Oh! Or he's Nick's older brother on The New Girl, and he can form the side of a Charming/Jess/Nick triangle.

And yeah, Ginnifer is the cutest. It's like they patterned Mary Margaret on her IRL.

I think the episodes that don't focus on Snow/Charming are weaksauce but I think there are ways in which the storylines will play out later (maybe).

I also think they will change the structure of this show based on fan feedback.

I am so confused about whether I love this show or I'm frustrated by it.

WHY NO PRINCE CHARMING, PEEPS? I hate to be a shipper but for reals: grrrr! They are the heart of the show.

Anyway, there are things I really like! I like the way they connected the Hansel & Gretel story to the Evil Queen and why they needed to go into the house and what they needed to retrieve. I thought that was a smart tie-in to the main plot. I liked the parallelisms--the repeated use of words and imagery is nice and adds to the enchantment thingy they got going on.

Previews for next week? Yes, please. I'll have to watch that one twice, I think.

So, I think that was the most dragged out bunch of nonsense I ever saw. AND I LOVED IT. Is there anything better than dragging out the angst between these two? It's completely contrived and I DO NOT CARE.

Josh Dallas pines like Pacey Witter, god bless him. I would watch him stare longingly at drying paint for 45 minutes every Sunday for the rest of the TV season with no probs.

LOVED the kiss at the end, how they sort of fell into each other like two little Tru Luv magnets! Wheee!

His wife unfollowed him, but he hasn't unfollowed her. Awww! And the sleuths over at FanForum noted that the first time he was spotted without his wedding band was at ComicCon in July, which is also where the Gosh (apparently that's the 'approved' portmanteau name) chemistry was noted to be through the roof. Also, they met for the first time ever the day they shot the pilot. Love at first sight, OBVS. Pretty fortunate that they had chemistry together, considering the producers didn't even audition them together! That's crazy to me.

Also? How insane is this fandom? Because they think David is an asshole for cheating on his wife (who is, of course NOT HIS WIFE AT ALL) with Snow. Um. SNOW IS HIS WIFE. Also? The very nature of the curse is that they can't have a happy ending. So any happy moments they have are stolen thanks to Emma.

People are so dumb!

ETA: I feel the back half of the season will be better than the first half has been. I mean they probably had a few scripts and outlines and whatnot the first couple of weeks. And then they see the obvs chemistry and probably started changing the story arc like whoa. And then the fan reax likely pushed them even harder to keep it up.

So YAY. SO MUCH PRINCE CHARMING IN MY FUTURE.

I can't even talk about this show anymore, because Emma's utter dumbosity makes me sad. But! Barbara Hershey has been cast as Regina's mother. Presumably only in flashbacks, I guess? So yes, we might be seeing that Regina has a Tragic Past that Explains Everything. That's just great.

Ever since the news that episode 18, Stable Boy, would feature Regina’s mother in a possibly recurring story arc, speculation has been rife as to who would take on the role as the woman who could easily have been the inspiration for the saying ‘The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.’

Once fans can expect to see Hershey make her debut in Stable Boy later this spring.

Because of the curse! Every moment of happiness must be stolen. They have to be unhappy and conflicted because that is the queen's happy ending.

That's why Cinderella's prince works double shifts and she's basically a single mom. It's why David can't leave his wife. It's why nobody ever thinks of moving away. Or why everbody thinks things have been "this way" for as long as they can remember and don't have the will to change it. They have implanted memories and their strong wills have been crippled by the curse. They can't have happy endings because they no longer have the courage of their convictions. I think it's good they checked back in with Cinderella so we know she's still stuck despite snagging a little bit of happiness with Emma's help. And I'd bet if they went back to the Hansel and Gretel? They are probably struggling despite Emma's help of restoring their family. Only Emma can break the curse and she doesn't even really believe in it yet.

And I think now that we know Rumpel has the chance to have a happy ending? That will be a game changer when he finds out.

They seriously need to make that more explicit, then. Because to any casual viewer, it just looks like everyone is a giant wuss that needs a kick in the keister. It's hard to be sympathetic to characters that can't even help themselves!

I think the contrast between their Fairy Tale behavior and their real life behavior is stark. I think the show has flaws but that seems pretty clear to me. I think they obsessively pivot around the queen and Rumpel. I also seem to find him less fascinating a character than the internet does. I think he's a bit scenery chewy.

He's one of the few characters I like, and the scene between him and Regina at the end was the only scene I liked in this ep. At last we have *some* forward-ness regarding who does and doesn't know about the curse, etc.

The show moves too slow. Maybe I have just become addicted to the fast pace of TVD, but it seems like EVERYTHING else on tv is moving like molasses on a cold biscuit. Especially this show, though. A whole hour, and what really happened? MM and David are still as not together as they ever were. Emma is still clueless about everything. Regina gave Mr. Gold his cup back and we found out that he knows about the curse (which we pretty much knew anyway). Some chick played by Emilie deRavin is locked away. Well, okay then. They just aren't doing a very good job at building suspense or creating tension. Or accomplishing anything. The premise would have been better suited to a tightly written 8 episode mini-series, or some version thereof.

I agree. Sadly, the writers of this show are repeating the mistakes of Lost's first season. It was glacial!!! Mad Men? Also ridiculously slow the first season.

I think it would be a huge mistake to not have some awesome epic battle come down the pike by the end of the first season that would be a game changer for the plotting.

I liked the last one! It drew a clear line between David's behavior and Prince Charming's! The evil queen made Mary Margaret the most-hated woman in town! :rollin: She probably stuck poor Katherine in the asylum with Belle! For decades! So cruel!

I will hate it if the Evil Queen is ever given a backstory explaining what a horror show she is. I'd like to know what the EQ thinks Snow did to her to ruin her life when she murdered Snow's father, tried to kill her with an apple and sent their entire universe to live in a small town where nobody has any backbone!

Yeah, it's getting really hard to imagine what the hell Snow did. The queen never loved Snow's father, right? What with the killing him and all. So who is the guy she loved, and how did Snow screw it up?

And they made me actually like Abigail, which I wasn't expecting. The whole Frederick-is-a-gold-statue was a kind of nice twist, given King Midas' 'problem'. But boy, how did they keep someone from stealing it for so long? Solid gold statue in the middle of the woods with no guard or anything. I would think just having Midas around alive would greatly influence inflation in the Fairytale economy. Bread prices must be through the roof in his kingdom/village/large estate!

I don't usually drop Hilter comparisons but really? She's a crazy despot, straight up!

There is nothing Snow could have done to bring down such wrath. Moral of the story: Don't piss off evil people. Unless you plan to kill them right after.

Actually, I'm not really allowed to scan any photos from the mid 90s. I have like 10 scrapbooks of drunken madness (I also enjoyed photo collage scrapbooking.) and there are SOOOOOO many truly horrific drunk pictures of me that if I put any of my friends they would deluge me with things 500 times more horrifying. It's sort of like when two countries have nukes? They both just step down.

There is literally a photo of me wearing a pantyhose on my head. I was so drunk while we were wandering from bar to bar (and it was summer) and I kept saying, "I'm too hot! Why did I wear these nylons!" So I totally took them off OUTSIDE IN FRONT OF THE BAR. Classy. And then put them on my head. I was a complete drunk back then. Embarrassing.

In fact, off topic, I was listening to something on NPR or something where they were discussing the problem of black-out drinking. And I thought: God, I used to drink a lot but I don't think I blacked out. And then the person talking recounted the story of a person they were interviewing who said, "I don't remember most of last night--who does when you're drinking!?" And I smiled in total recognition and then I realized they were giving an example of someone who was blacking out and didn't even know it. Ha! I literally blushed while driving. I don't remember 1994-1998 is what I'm saying. /sad?

As far as I know, just separated. That's what he said in December in an interview, I believe, but there were no deets.

The guy had a career in England, where he lived with his wife for years and years. And then he packs up and moves to LA to start auditioning for US roles. It's just as likely that his separation may have *caused* the initial move in the first place, than to assume that he left his wife for a co-star.

I knew it was going to be either (or both) Red or Grannie who was the wolf, so the twist didn't surprise me. I was a little bit surprised by Mary Margaret's fingerprints, but not like majorly.

It seems like I say to myself, okay that's the last ep, I'm giving up on this beeking show . . . and then the next week previews suck me back in. But this time I swear! If the next ep doesn't make me like the show better, I'm *really* giving up on it.

Although I did like seeing Uncle John Gilbert in this ep. I don't know why everyone always assumes the worst of the poor guy in every show he does.

Yeah, folks aren't buying the whole 'nothing happened until after he separated from his wife, and it was only distance that caused the separation and not the fact that he fell in love with his pixieish co-star nuhuh no homewrecking here move along nothing to see' denying that is going on in that article.

For them to come clean, must mean that they knew they were about to be busted. Or, since filming is just about wrapped, they have plans for the hiatus that would clearly show their coupledom, and they didn't want to be ninjas about it.

However! I kinda think they should have kept mum about the specific timing altogether. Let people speculate or whatever. The big denial stuff just makes it sound shady, especially given the show parallels.
