    Jim Broadbent was brilliant.

And I thought all of the flashbacks with young Voldemort were appropriately creepy. I was sorry that they cut out so much of Tom Riddle's family's backstory, though. Guess they had to.

    I had only three complaints:

    - the Harry and Ginny stuff just did not hold the heat and sweetness I remember from the book. I feel like they abbreviated some of the scenes . . . maybe because Bonnie Wright simply isn't that great of an actress? I like her, but she's definitely stiff.

    - The Felix potion. Why oh why wouldn't you save it for a truly important endeavor . . . like capturing or killing Voldemort? I hate the Felix potion the same way I hate the time turner from OotP. I wouldn't hate them if they had turned up again to be used against Voldemort in the final book. But I don't think they did. Kind of powerful aides to be ignored. These of course are quibbles with the books, and not with the movies.

    - Dumbledore not using Petrificus on Harry before his confrontation with Draco and the Death Eaters. Weird change to make, I think.

Overall, I thought it was fab.

isadora- what did you dislike so much about PoA? That one always seems to top the critic's lists.

Eh, is that the third one? I seriously just think that book is bo-ring. And the movie wasn't any better. But I do at some point in the distant future plan to re-read each book and watch the movie so maybe I will change my mind.

I'm also not that much of a fan of the grown-up backstory. I'm in the minority on that, I know.

I've been listening to the audiobooks on my commute and it's amazing the stuff I had forgotten about the books, or maybe never noticed when I was speed-reading them. But Jim Dale does a good job reading them; my only complaint is that his Hermione voice is really bad.

Official Deathy Hallows trailer seems too good to be true. It seriously looks like they put EVERYTHING in, which I refuse to believe. I just know I'm going to get in there and they'll have left out tons of important details while adding random stupidness/stupid randomness like Jamaican shrunken heads and burning down Burrows.

I'm still excited, though, because YAY! Deathly Hallows!

I wish it was in quicktime or some format where I could arrow through because there are a few really quick clips that I can't place and it's driving me nuts. One is a shot of Ron looking agonized in some hallway with what I think is a blonde person behind him and I'm thinking it takes place at the Malfoy's. That whole sequence where they keep Hermione behind to torture her and Ron is freaking the fuck out and screaming himself hoarse is one that I'm v.v. worried about them doing well since they really underplayed the emotional stuff in the last movie and they tend to screw up Ron in general and especially when it comes to Hermione. The other stuff, like Harry's death march looks pretty damn good, though, so hopefully they'll have gotten it right for this one.

I know about the Quicktime - I want that too. I need to see if there is a shot of Neville with the sword. I NEED to see Neville with the sword.
